Murder at Mistletoe Manor: A Mystery Novella...is about Klarinda Snow, who owns Mistletoe Manor, her staff (Myrtle and Pierre who stayed on from working for the previous owner) and the seven guests booked for the same time. The Mistletoe Manor is an older established inn located in Windy Pines and is in need of repair or at least some cheery Christmas décor, being that usually the inn doesn't have all it's rooms booked at once. Once the guests start to arrive, Klarinda and Myrtle try to guess if these are random people staying there or a reunion or some other event. The weather is bad with blizzard conditions and roads closing, so all the guests arrive just in time to avoid the brunt of the weather. Then the mailman comes and gives Klarinda an envelope which she later finds ten thousand dollars in with a note that she doesn't understand. There wasn't any return address or what the money was to be used for. Each guest seems to have some complaint but stay anyway. The guests soon find out that they all went to the same Academy, all except one woman named Benji who dressed in orange with orange accessories. Later in the evening one of the guests has a fatal "accident", then another "accident", by the next day four of the seven guests have had "accidents" or is it murder and why? Klarinda starts to put things together and with the police point them towards one particular guest, only to find out she guessed the wrong person for these "accidents" (murders). When she finally realized who it was, it was too late, the person had already left the inn. The story is like reading about a murder/mystery themed weekend gathering/play. It will capture your interest from the start and there is a two chapter preview of the next book in the series. Well worth the time to read.Product details

Murder at Mistletoe Manor A Mystery Novella Holly TierneyBedord 9781519012678 Books Reviews
Surprisingly enough, the things I didn't think I like about this story are the things that made it memorable. So many negative, snooty, and grumpy characters actually made this an unusual story and kept everyone on the suspect list. Entertaining, yes, and especially looking back. Enjoy!
Murder in the Mistletoe in is the last thing the owner needs several murders leave the question of why and what is to become of the Inn. Several people have been mysteriously invited to spend time at the Mistletoe Manor, none of them know why. The owner is happy with the business but something is off, then she sees these people know each other, or most of them do.
Fast easy read, at first seems like too much...really everyone being murdered at the inn, but then it is wrapped up nicely.
Favorite Quotes
“I’ll call Rod Showers. His rates are reasonable. And he’s a hottie!” “Myrtle, are you serious? He’s got to be seventy years old,” said Klarinda. “Easier to catch him,” said Myrtle, wiggling her eyebrows.
With me here and him there, that means a hundred percent of his common sense isn’t even in the same state as his penis. I should have known better than to come here.
My Review
This was a quickly paced, wryly humorous, and fun cozy murder mystery featuring a revenge plot in a small-town inn located in the middle of nowhere Idaho. It was a banner day for the struggling innkeeper as all seven rooms had been reserved, yet when her guests arrived, they all mentioned winning an all-expense paid luxury vacation to her inn, which was a stunning surprise to the innkeeper. A large envelope stuffed with cash arrived later, which helped to ease the sting as well as adding an extra layer of puzzlement.
The weather was foul although not as vicious as the contemptuous and imperious attitudes of the female guests. It was readily apparent that the evening was likely to be of an increasingly unpleasant nature, more for some than others as most of the guests departed the premises with the coroner. The storylines were original, easy to follow, unpredictable, well-paced, and entertaining. Many of my favorite moments were the humorous inner musings and observations of the innkeeper, although I was quite taken by the quirkiness of the characters as well as the many ancillary details such as the elderly reindeer sweatered gentlemen who caroled on skis ~ smirk.
Murder at Mistletoe Manor
Klarinda owns the manor with 7 rooms and she thinks it's odd that Myrtle-Jill of all trades has reserved each of the rooms for next Tuesday.
Pierre the chef thinks so also but welcomes the crowd. Things are a bit laid back as the first couple finds dust along a hidden woodwork groove.
As others arrive she finds that they were sent an all paid invitation for the night. She then receives a big pile of money with a note stating that it should cover the expenses.
Seems some people know one another-some think they won it by listening to a radio station or some other contest.
Things are in desperation plow needs to be fixed to plow the driveway, plumber needs to fix one of the bathrooms, and there is not even a Christmas tree on display...
Strange events occur and 4 people are coming up dead.... Klarinda and Myrtle investigate the clues and draw their own conclusions....like how the clues are discovered and solved. Didn't see them coming to an answer..
Excerpt from another book is included at the end.
Well, if Tierney-Bedord was trying to portray small-town folk as simple, she hit the nail on the head. The cops in this tale were bumbling idiots who couldn't care less! The snobby guests were just that--snobby. Complaints galore, and some were understandable...such as a B&B like Mistletoe Manor not being decorated for Christmas over the holiday season. Would have made since if they weren't booked, but all the rooms ended up booked! Penny-pinching aside, Myrtle was right to order that tree, even if it was too little, too late.
That aside, though, I think Tierney-Bedord could turn this into a series with some work. Clearly, the characters are there and ready to be fleshed out. Get Klarinda back from her break and get the Manor all fixed up from that disastrous week and show the readers how she and her staff recover from that mess!
